Tour Poem - by David Kelly

Saturday morning starts really slow
After getting the bus should mean six hours to go
But after playing ring around the bus station while we wait
And forgetting daylight savings leaves us getting to Coffs rather late

With no time to eat, we arrive at the hall
And we all seem real eager to play some volleyball
Whenever we play Coffs, it's never a sure bet
the are all close and go down to the final set
Its now very late and places for food we can't find any
The next day on the bus, who would have guessed, one pillow too many

The game against Forster we go down in the last set
Time for some river front cricket and get the ball wet
Such a beautiful place at the water front we have a great time
And learn the Damo, can't even bat line
After a rest, some long tales and even a joke
Its now late at night and Luis trys to walk through the smoke
The waterslide's a blast and is such a great thrill
But my favourite part is travelling sideways fast down the hill

Lost in Newcastle with a turn never missed
We arrive at the correct address, who needs a dentist?
"Where the hell are you?" is the message we send
Amongst the Lightning and rain, we arrive in the end
Losing to Newcastle isn't really a first
Neither is down to local the local to help quench our thirst

Its a short trip to Sydney, no time for naps
We won't get lost this time, we've plenty of maps
Its a shoppers paradise with centres galore
We find half price knee guards, lolly shops and more
Baulkin Hills Volleyball has so many teams in green
And we know we can;t eat our pizza unless we prove we're eighteen

Canberra, home for three days, a good place to be
The food courts are huge and the pinball is free
We play really well, although the placings don't show it
Way too many draws cause the points count back to blow it
The Div 3 boys have wins and losses and even some tied
But they chase the ball so hard that some players collide
With the games all over, more pizza and pasta will do
Heck we need some cheering up, cause the movie was poo

After the war museum there's four hours to go
The trip seems so long and passes quite slow
Our rotating rotation at Dubbo is the talk of tha day
But beware of Tom and the tricks he will play

Grafton, we know the where, but not so much the when
and an eight hour trip, turns into ten
The trecherous mountain road and the pouring down rain
Almost no petrol and being late is driving me insane
The Grafton crew are setup and waiting for us
We play a few tiring games and then back on the bus

As I sit by the bird cage to finish my poem
I reflect on the tour as we prepare for the trip home
Seventeen years of touring has always been just what one needs
As for the future, the mind is willing but the body concedes
The "Final Tour" has, as always, been loads of fun
And who knows, after this, they could be another one

We played well and hard with this magnificent eleven
AND WHAT! ... Thus concludes the tour of 2007
