Home About Member Rebates

Volunteer Incentive Scheme - To encourage members and parents to take on roles essential to the healthy running of the club, Dragons has introduced a Volunteer Incentive Scheme. This year we have earmarked a number of positions that we need to fill, described in more detail below. Please have a look and contact or another committee member if you think you might be able to help out the club by taking on one of these roles.

In addition to the positions below, we also have rebates for several other filled roles: PVL Men's coach, PVL Women's coach.

Rebate amounts can be found here (members only).

Secretary
(filled)

Incentive: Rebate on fees (contact committee member for more information)
Role Includes:
  1. Organise and take minutes at committee meetings
  2. Collect and distribute mail and emails to the committee as appropriate
  3. Write letters and emails on behalf of the club as required
  4. Delete any spam from the Dragons member email list
Qualifications: Anyone who can read, write, has regular internet access, and some common sense can undertake this role.

Tournament Coordinator
(filled)

Incentive: Rebate on fees (contact committee member for more information)
Role Includes: Coordinate club participation in tournaments that we attend, including Grafton, Toowoomba, Good Neighbour Games, State Team Bash, Flaming Chalice.
Qualifications: Require some organisational skills and common sense to perform this role.

BBC Coaches (always need more of these)

Incentive: Rebate on fees after coaching completed
(contact committee member for more information)
Role Includes:
  1. Coach a BBC team, that will compete in inter-school competition.
  2. Coach team at one training per week for 1st school term.
  3. Coach team during their game commitments, normally held on Saturdays in term 1.
Qualifications: Since we coach teams from year 8 through to 12, though we require some experienced (level 1 & 2) coaches those with no experience at all are still a great help. And we'll send you to a coaching course if you want. As you get qualified, we'll give you a bigger rebate.
How this helps the club: In order to use BBC's sports hall we have to provide at least 6 coaches every year. This keeps our members fees a LOT lower than they would otherwise be.

Metro Training Coach (vacant)

Incentive: Rebate on fees on a quarterly basis
(contact committee member for more information)
Role Includes:
  1. Run Mens/Combined Metro training sessions throughout the year
  2. Does not include administration, except as backup.
Qualifications: Prefer someone with Level 1 or better coaching accreditation, or similar experience

Flaming Chalice - Secondary Venue Manager

  2. Will get some assistance from other Dragons members present at start and end of day, but will generally be responsible for everything else.
  3. Advice can be obtained by ringing the main venue
Qualifications: Require some organisational skills and common sense to perform this role.

Flaming Chalice - Canteen Manager

Promotions Officer
(vacant)

Role Includes:
  1. Recruit new members by promoting the club
  2. Organise and promote an annual sign-on/tryout day
  3. Target schools and social competitions for new members
Qualifications: None, but it would help if you were good at talking to people and at sales.
How this helps the club: More members means we can enter more comps, more tournaments etc, and also shares fixed costs out amongst a larger group of people.

Fundraising Officer
(vacant)

Incentive: This will depend on the exact agreement with sponsors etc, but as a guide - 10% of the net amount in the first year, and 5% in subsequent years.
Role Includes:
  1. Seek out club/team/tournament sponsors
  2. Maintain relationships with sponsors
Qualifications: Ability to sell the value of the club to sponsors, and make arrangements that will benefit the club and the sponsor.
How this helps the club: Sponsorships will bring money or other things into the club, which means the club can provide better services to members at a lower cost.

All members

Incentive: $10 per person you convince to sign up and pay for a year of Dragons membership. They must enter your name on the registration form when answering the question 'Who or how were you convinced to try out Dragons'.
Role Includes: That's it

The Fine Print

  1. Receiving the full rebate requires performing the role as described to a reasonable level. If you only do half the job, you get half the rebate.
  2. Assistance will be given to get you started in the role and ensure you know what you need to do.
  3. The rebate will be applied to your Dragons balance after the role has been completed for the year.
  4. The rebate can then be used to pay for further Dragons activities (registration, competitions, tournaments, etc) that you or an immediate family member participate in.
  5. If you want cash instead of a rebate, you will receive no more than 75% of the rebate. eg If the club owes you $400, you can elect to be paid cash of $300 (after which your balance will be $0), OR use $400 for Dragons activities.
